Questions

Frequently asked

How are the ratings calculated? +

Ratings combine average temperature, monthly rainfall and local context. "Great" means genuinely ideal conditions for tourism — comfortable temperatures and low rainfall. "Avoid" flags dangerously hot months, hurricane season, heavy monsoons or cyclone risk. "Good" and "Fair" sit in between.

Where does the climate data come from? +

Temperature and rainfall figures are based on long-term historical averages from meteorological records. They represent typical conditions rather than guarantees — weather always has year-to-year variation.

Why is my destination not listed? +

We currently cover 150 of the world's most popular tourist destinations across five regions. We'll be expanding the list over time. If there's a specific destination you'd like to see added, let us know.

Is "Great" weather the only time worth visiting? +

Not at all. "Avoid" months often have fewer tourists and lower prices. Some travellers prefer the drama of rainy-season landscapes, or don't mind the heat. The ratings help you set expectations, not dictate your plans.

Does rainfall mean it will rain every day? +

No — monthly rainfall figures are totals spread across the whole month. A destination with 100mm of rain in a month might have brief daily showers, or a few heavy days with sunshine the rest of the time. Context matters, which is why we include a plain-English note on each card.
